FINALLY. this is earth-shattering news, so pause for a moment while I twist the cap off that Lag 16 and pour me enough to revel with, coz yours truly has finally found himself TIME!

HAHAHA now that's what i call an icebreaker! ive been frozen in time. i was nearing the edge of this pitiful blog's existence, what with the silence and all. checking back between months to see what was left of it. reading the old shoutbox messages some of y'all have left me. (and it's not that i dont wanna reply. its just that its so old, replying months later would feel like a slap in the face. at least it would to me anyway. so here's another apology haha.)

ironically, silence right now is the one thing ive deserved, coz ive been hard at it these past several months. 9-5, vacationing, women, business, poker, hunger, family. and the list goes on.

now i dont plan to jump right back into the habit, coz i know i could go on all nite and end up typing some confused shit which i have no time to proof-read and edit haha! gotta be blunt right? so here's to flippin over a new page of the ol' coloring book. the outlines of mighty mouse were getting old. onto merrier images of today, like heath ledger, le louvre, and the cast of grey's anatomy. (God, what a show! hahaha. and if i might add, Addison Shepherd is fineeeeeee.)

damn its been a while. so a while that this "new post" page feels foreign to me. but after 5 months, i think its about time i reside here for a little bit. get my PR status back. and no, i havent pulled a tupac on y'all haha. almost did though i wont lie! but like the true poet said:

anyway let me keep this short. gotta give myself a few ticks to regain my bloggin edge back hahaha. a lots gone down since the date of the prehistoric post just below. let's just say im half way from reachin half the goals ive set myself at the start of the year, and then some. on the whole, things are lookin up, not just for me but for those close to me as well.

just when i thought there had been a downfall of silver screen gems coming outta hollywood, no other film has built my anticipation up to an over-succeedin altitude more than the delirium-inducing, couldnt-have-been branded-any-cooler Smokin' Aces!

call me a victim of the mob-orientated, pauperist gambling, killing spree, never-short-of-a-cuss kinda movie genre, but whats not to like about it right?? star-studded cast including the likes of Jeremy Piven (that gay dude in Rush Hour 2. gettin flashbacks yet? ok.. Entourage! ARI GOLD BABYYY!), Ray Liotta, Andy Garcia, and Alicia Keys among many others. mix all that into a recipe made up of Joe Carnahan's eclectic directing-style with slo-mo's and intensifying frame cuts and everything, along with rugged costume and set designs, and BOOM! (if u aint seen Entourage, u wont get how i summed that up haha.)

sure, it may be nothing more than the skills of the marketers and branding exec's behind the face of the film that gets my blood pressure runnin like crazy, but take my word for it when i say the shit that ive seen that u in turn should be seein will convert u into an instant worshipper (ok, thats pushin it haha) of the movie that's already cultivated a cult-like following.

unless u cant manage to deny my take of this flick, im gonna go right ahead and sit for the showing with the highest expectations ive ever had since Revolver came out. but if u can, i'll save u some time and just say that, yea, i might just be a sucker for commercialism haha. i guess that's what sublime branding does to ya i guess. either way, the movie aint out yet in these areas. but come its release, my money's on the table for an early cult-classic. i cant wait!

When i'm in need of words to inspire me, one site seems to do the trick. and it never fails me. pay attention.

i'm giving u one name - Yasmin Ahmad.

most would know her as that reputable creator of Sepet, that film which managed to rake up the Best Asian Film award in 05's Tokyo Film Festival, among a list of others. i on the other hand have always known her to be that amazingly-insighted ECD of world-renowned ad agency Leo Burnett (Rae & Ori represent babyyy haha! holla at ya boy bruh!) but few would tell u they knew him. u heard me right.

enough controversy circulated around Yassin Ahmad's disputed sex change years ago. i remember goin thru an award book some years back, during my rookie years in the admosphere (deliberate pun hehe), and as i was flipping thru the 'Winners' category my good friend Ori stopped me and, not being able to resist, had to point out this one woman, with a damningly long list of recognitions under her name.

That's a dude."

And that's all that came out of Ori hahaha! and i just couldnt believe it. u want the naked truth? i was biased as fuck hearing that! i just stared at that picture, trying so hard to make out the man-ish qualities in her face. and all i could think of was, "damn! that's some convincing shit!" i was blown away.

then i got to thinkin... list of eminent awards. years of experience as one of asia's top adfolk. exec creative director of LB. i repeat, LB! famed director the world over. the REAL question was, "must i give a fuck what gender she was reaping these achievements?" the answer is a big HELL no.

and to my surprise, she's gotta be THE humanest person today. if there was ever such a word! haha. forget humble. forget down-to-earth. she personifies the very definition of REALNESS. i know this just by reading her words. and her personality just illuminates. and it really is heart felt, coz she writes straight from the heart.

i couldnt care less of the opinions people may have about her or her kind (i dont mean to categorize u Yasmin. love u girl! hehe) but she truly is a lady whose ideas transcend all walks of life. God bless Yasmin Ahmad.

alright, time for a little promoting! 'Mukhsin' is what she's called her next big project. the film just got the festival treatment recently actually, Yasmin falling just short of the Best Asian Film award at the Tokyo Film Festival last year. but a a movie nominated in that category should be fruitful enough. so all we're really doin now is awaiting the premiere of the damn flick on our Asian shores. the dvd would do just fine too.

Yasmin's apparently known for her gifted talent-scouting. her films display raw talents of child prodigies nurtured by the woman herself. and 'Mukhsin' aint no expection. Mohd Syafie and Sharifah Aryana look to follow in the trailing foot steps of the heir to the throne, Sharifah Amani. now that's one malay chick i wouldnt mind goin for hahaha! what?? truth is good. ask Yasmin.

but if i know one thing, its that 2007's gonna be one hell of a year. i can feel it runnin up and down my spine. the adrenaline man! things are gonna take off, and its gonna skyrocket baby! im just hoping y'all are gonna be right there for the ride, helpin me out when there's even the slightest hint of a dip. but lest we fall, the altitude is only gonna rise. coz im the best damn pilot around hahaha! talk about excessive optimism! fuck it. i own this year!

• 'Asli' The Musical - brunei's very own homegrown musical, set to premiere by late-february. watch a bunch of amateurs and a few seasoned actors come full circle in what's been the grittiest 6 months (so far) and what's set to be the most talked-about and redeeming spectacle this country will ever come to see! The Gift

Just a week ago, i was again asked the ever-elusive question that automatically attracts unwanted and unjustified judgments. The question being:

"do you drink?"

and i'd hate to have to prepare an answer that allows me to keep my honor for the choice ive made and not deter my image at the same time. so i dont bother. one word is enough.

"nope."

i'd be sitting comfortably, not at all bothered by one minor question that these sorta people enjoy asking as a way of sizing u up and breakin u down in no time, if it werent for that smug lookin grin they had on their faces. and this dude, who has the biggest and ugliest one of em all to date, aint no exception.

normally i dont let this kinda thing bother me. i like seeing myself as a man well taught and well brought up, defined by honorable principles and a reasonable amount of success, unfazed by spiteful comments that hold no significance to me. but im not gonna lie, shit like that just straight out piss me off. shit that invite me to jump into a heated debate and take offense on remarks that question my very principles. the more u pull a lion's tail in a cage, the more likely it'll just pounce at u. especially in this specific encounter, with a dude named Azmi. yup, im naming names man. there aint no discretion here.

spare me a moment...

i reluctantly missed 2 days of sleep almost a week back, giving time up to finish a 6-minute video for this dude Azmi's transport firm's exhibition at The Mall a day later. im not too keen on last minute work, but i figured the price we gave was enough compensation. on the day of the exhibition, Andy, the representative from the transport firm who'd been watchin the video's progress, invited me and my workmate Faizal for some coffee. being deprived of sleep, i didnt see why not. so off we walked to the coffeeshop across the street, with Azmi followin behind his workmate.

coffee was great, as you'd imagine. Andy was quite some company surprisingly, being the complete opposite of the bossy boring monotonous chinaman he was the past few days. he wasnt so robotic now, enjoying a laugh with me and faizal, hoverin on topics surrounding my not-so-bruneian acccent to girls (despite what Andy's wedding ring signifies) to the holidays, among other things. as for azmi, it wasnt hard to tell his pretentiousness behind those unconvincing grins and chuckles, as if the topics on the table were less than interesting for his tinman standards. dude just sat there sippin on his black coffee, giving me ample opportunity to make small talk. and nothing more.

but what happens when the topic of alcohol comes into the picture? dude was more than willing to provide colorful details of his escapade down to miri the previous night. i thought, "great, finally something to at least bring this lost pup to life." they go on to talk about favorite drinks that could knock u off ya seat, nights of past they wont ever forget, parties where they tripped and got completely wasted. and i listened intently, watchin this dude's eyes glimmer with awe talkin passionately about what looked to be like his first love. the topic was anything but boring, im not gonna lie! and there we were, a few guys wih a common bond (minus one, obviously) enjoyin good coffee.

until that question popped up of course.

and what got me was the remark that followed the first question.

"you're boring."

...and the question that followed THAT remark.

"so what do you do?"

he took me by surprise, this Azmi dude. i just replied, "you'd be surprised man."

sadly for the dude, he couldnt stick around for the ensuing chapter of our little coffee session. debating his less-than-organized, supposedly-cool, employed-by-accident kinda life he leads was well on his way had he not found valid enough reason to leave with a smile he chose to keep as his time ran out. sure, i'll give him that much. but i aint taking no prisoners man. our conversation aint over.

and the irony of it all is, Azmi had a point. he just decided to put in the most colorfullest of words. very blunt buddy. want a tip? polish up that intellect a bit. maybe then i'd have listened to ya.

coz to be honest to concerners like Azmi, my time will come. (god, i make it sound like a testament!) sure, he struck me while i was napping. low blow, by the way. but ive actually been contemplating making a date with this 21st century holy water. i figured ive attempted enough risks thus far, it wouldnt hurt to attempt another. so i'll drink. despite all the damn pressure, i'll drink. but it'll all come on my own time.

what bemuses me though is, why the face? whats with all damn the concern? why the alienating? i go to parties and events to have me a bit of fun, not to be interrogated. as is the case with all drinkers im sure. u come for the same reasons, not to make detective for the night.

as if drinkin is so big of a sin, people who chug down the alco need the extra company just to make themselves feel less of a sinner. if thats true, at least try making it a little less obvious! hahaha. now listen up, i dont judge drinkers. maybe over-drinkers. but drink if u need to. dont let me get between u and your bottles of worship. its your goddamn choice. as long as u respect mine. my decisions are for me to make, no one else.

A group of four unknown artists in Detroit, Michigan are on a mission to beautify their neighborhood by painting the old, dilapidated and abandoned buildings bright orange in hopes of drawing attention to the eye sores. The foursome have been anonymously painting the front sides of the derelict structures Tiggeriffic Orange in an attempt to get the city to knock them down.

i long to see that above picture. no, not a runway. u gotta look beyond the image of just a runway. in my case, its the last runway i'll ever land upon that excites me. and that day is the one i've always been prepared for.

this shit came up all too suddenly, but i'll explain. i found myself sittin in the office this morning with hard-hitting evidence of just how juiced out i was. (look it up in the dictionary - it's under the term 'creative evaporation'.) the feeling is fucked up! im sure u've been there. u just sit there lookin retarded, desperate for a speck of inspiration just to get u going. and my office ain't exactly warhol-inspired, with repulsively-beautiful art plastered all over my orange-colored walls. nope.

so on my (delayed) lunch break i said "forget this!" and got my colleague faizal to drive me down to Booker. once there, i straight away got me a copy of Wallpaper*, picked up some chicken rice from Thien2, zoomed back to headquarters, made an incubator out of my little office space, and, almost like that massive tube thing they stick into the top of Neo's dome in the Matrix, i started suckin up all the creativity out of every single ad, article, photo, fontography and all else i could find in the damn mag that made my pupils contract.

and thats what it says on the cover, accompanied by an amazing shot of a contemporary chair in an icy artic-esque background. this, along with everything inside, was enough to get me back on track. Nyamen. (That's nyaman and amen put together haha! Don't get no better than that!) i'll tell you why. this magazine, as well as many others im sure, is filled with nothing but innovation, one of the few aspects i highly regard. its a semblance of progression, not necessarily from the old, coz that too has its distinct qualities. but it demonstrates to me just how much things can evolve. how something can always come out of nothing. and that really moved me. shots of lavish and ancestry european & asian cities and its grown cityscape tell me how much developed creativity there is out there that ive never been exposed to.

then i look around me. here i am in an office (which is pretty unique compared to any other office u'll find down here), in an unchanged building that's been around for decades, in a small metropolis whose development lacked any kind of monitoring, in a country that is incessantly reluctant to give any positive face-lifts to anything worth improving. put yourself in my slipar jepun's and ask yourself "am i moving"?

fuck no, you're not. and fuck yes, you should.

because if im expected to live out my dying days in this stalling piece of shi.... land, and this damn office, and this damn building, and this damn Gadong hasnt changed barring its age, u can save me some time and buy me an air ticket to Barca right now rather than a million dollar teleportation half a century from now.

alrite. i realize how unfair it is how, after 2 months of goin cold turkey on y'all (if any), i jump right into an(other) unsuspecting entry on how wrong the world is. there's been a lot of those, its understood hehe. so lemme (re)jump right into whats been happening since ive been gone.

or better yet, whats goin on this second.

we're at adi's place. sorry.. jill's place hahaha. its purely accidental - you come to use someone's recording equipment, u automatically assume its the dude's place hehe. anyway, we're all here helping T make a record with the projectunians. so you've got me, ajim and his main squeeze feez on the bed, each on their own laptop (yup, it's looks geeky if u ask me), jill readin a tabloid by the door, diana and adi on the recording suite, and T on the mic, taking and retaking his chorus. and retaking. haha! rub a dub dub eh. and right about now, after dozens of takes, its startin to stick...

The world is a brutal society. And because it is, it's filled with a growing number of pretenders.

But we don't become one until we find out just how brutal our society really is. And it needs to be preemptively said that no one's at fault. Not one of us, but all of us as a whole.

It starts off like this. You meet people. Some you like, some you don't. Some are so happy to the point of being annoying, some are really sad or volatile to the point of being terrifying. The level of diversity is honorable, ironically. But there comes a point where we are caught completely off guard, betrayed in some way by our human counterpart. Feelings hurt? Fortunes stolen? Overly sensitive to the situation or not, we feel betrayed either way.

These sort of situations, in definition, are more or less life-altering. Without question, we walk away learning a thing or two. How to better handle the situation if it was to ever reoccur. And it does. Not once or twice. But a dozen times over and again. Human behaviour isnt easily justified - a fact that easily pisses people like me off but a fact we've gotta live with no less.

Masks. After betrayal repeatedly redefines itself, we turn to masks. For disguise mostly. (Other times it's just fun!) Pretenders are moulded, but apparently for good reason. Masks become the easiest way to prevent having to put up with society's wrath. The knife has never been more blunt, and we do whatever it takes not be stabbed by it again.

You laugh at a joke you take offense to just to avoid being the only one with a smirk and a raised eyebrow on your face, when in truth the very person who took most offense was the teller of the joke. Stuck in a room full of badasses, you make to look like you could murder folks, when in truth the ones in the room to begin with had "i love mum" tattooed to their asses. Or if we're lucky, an "i'm a sappy nerd" too.

We walk away from the unforgivable past, not just with learnable experiences, but this time with masks on our faces to act as a guard from being read and (mis)understood. We begin to trust no one. Not until certain people naturally get you to unveil your mask for them.

The world is a brutal society, and it's becoming more and more like one by the nanosecond. Every one of us are self-confessed pretenders. We walk down the same path again, but as someone else. Someone we're not. By accident.

turns out winnin a few awards werent enough for even a bit of shine.

i still remember the struggle we went thru for last year's Crowbar Awards in the Lion City. Limkokwing couldnt sponsor us financially. we were cool with that. so to avoid haggling, all we asked for was a stingy school chop on our ads. we needed em for verification. so down they flew. and there it was, the email claiming us winners. so down we rode, self-imbursed, every man for himself. got a room, walked to the award show (like a bunch of desperate dogs beggin for a bone), stole the show (heheh i wish), took a deeeeeeeeeep breath, and rode back uptown. may i add with hopes of capturin the limelight once the news broke out.

and only months after the accomplishment, thinkin the shine should've broken out by now, what do i get? not a single acknowledgement.

i dig gold up for u assholes and u spend it all for yourself. spank u fellas. and a big spank u to monkeyface (above). dont look directly at him.

Quite a stir created by a Wayne Rooney ad released by Wieden+Kennedy (London). The folks in the agency probably meant no harm but i understand how this shock tactic could be misconstrued. Engaging? Or revolting? Take the insight of one of a few British papers:

'Consider this repulsive poster carefully. Rooney's face and upper body are smeared with what looks like blood in the shape of the cross of St George. That's some makeover.

Try to catch up. Quick updates here. Work has been out of control like the way the Royals spend their dough. Our launch is gonna be this weekend, and im hoping with stitched X's across my beatin heart that Mo and Jo will be back from KL by then. Y'all inda pandai bebunyi eh! Not to me at least hehe. But if u 2 read this before u jump across the South China, im tellin ya it would mean too much if u both were around for the unveilin of Adam, Bonnie, Chase, Dina, Earl, and Felice - 6 orangeboxes, sittin beside one another like the closest sibs. Damn, gimme a tissue quick!

Oh and my attempt at a semi-controversial teaser ad campaign went awry. Didnt last 2 days. This was what went down - i made (with no outside help out all! except for u sheed. luh u girl haha.) 6 fake banners that read "LAND FOR RENT" and installed em on the 6 empty lots where the boxes would eventually be. This was saturday last week, rougly a week before the official launch. the idea was to get people wonderin why 6 SMALL empty lots were put up for rent, and in a few days the banners would read "LAND RENTED". this would get the public wonderin WHO in their right mind would wanna rent out these lots. But come Sunday, BAM. Huhuhuuu! Aint advertising sweet?

But the damn Pehin (name goes unmentioned in defense of a sentence.) apparently arrived at the Centrepoint the next day with a 'mua masam' and ordered the banners down. Spoil banar eh. Guess this place is more default than i expected. But fuck that shit. In time...

(And dont forget muh 600 bucks yea Mo? i appreciate the assistance bro. Dude. 5.)

Another update. I love that girl up there. Cassie's the name, and Me & U's my new obsession. The tune loops on my office Mac like Pusing Lagi at JP, non-stop. And the best part is it fails to bore me out. The new 'Let Me Love You'. The princess is half-black, half-pino. Mi caliente indeed! Like it was meant to be. And her videos (and i mean both of em! the polished and the unpolished.) to her 'Me & U' single got me infatuated. Give this track a listen. Its enough to get u bumpin to the song in your ride, system on full-blast.

finally. the big X's have arrived. walked down the red carpet and everything. grand entrance and the whole 20 yards. lookalikes, hand in hand. geminis indeed.

for some reason i feel reborn. its like what i told Sheed this mornin - i feel like a baby again, but in the 2nd phase of life. its a completely different plateau, and there's hell of a lot more to expect out of this chapter. i got me bigger expectations for myself. for the first 20 years of my life, its been all about making mistakes and working out how i made em, learnin how to avoid reoccurences. trial and error sorta. and now there aint no room for em anymore.

ive learnt valuable things from so many people, all i'd like to believe are wiser than myself. and i'll thank em til the day i stop dischargin CO2 out my system. these are the people that have made me, me. they say, in art and design, that all ideas are an accumulation of previous ones - nothing is original. in my case, i dont really see myself as being original. (then again i'd highly disregard myself as being like anyone else either haha! madda.) but more of a compilation of all the great minds put together. that might sound condescending, but to me it should only mean another form of flattery. u let the info flow in, and u filter the ones that actually matter. the mind being a quaint manifestation of all things good is how i like to see it. im not too proud of what lessens me in the eyes of others, but for what is appreciated of me, it's you you should thank.

thank you to my brothers and sisters who made my 20th a memorable one. age is a funny thing, coz we find the need to celebrate another year that went by. only realizin marking another year of life is really quite an accomplishment, coz in today's world it's gettin tougher by the particle to find a passion to progress. u go on, and that is enough to congratulate your siblings for. im glad im still breathing my thank yous.

it's a bitch of a feelin i'd thank God forever for. i'm unsatisfied again! i'm earnin my own dough, livin it up and having a bit of fun. all before the 2 X's hit. there's no doubting that's quite some feat! but i realized, and i realized early (nearly 2 months into my new job as Creative Designer at easyOrange to be precise) that a little revamping was already in the works. and that's not just in the office.

lemme get off topic for a sec here. i got sumthin to share. what i realized about people, especially us Malays (keep your minds open folks), is that we tend to settle too quickly. find yourself a comfort zone, snuggle your little rear into a soft spot and u seem set for life. well u know what i think? fuck that shit.

i'll paint u a picture. u had your eyes set on a stunning pair of shoes, with a pricetag thrice as stunning. u got in your pockets a $100 bill, $300 short of the price of those hot new shoes. then u see another pair of shoes, not as hot as the ones u set your eyes on, but good enough nonetheless. not to mention affordable. pricetag reads '$100'. would u buy them cheap ass shoes? bet u would. well u know what i think? fuck that shit.

i say keep hustlin for more pocket cash til u reach a reasonable amount to get what u desired most at the start. and in the mean time, buy yourself some dollar-a-pair sandals to walk around in while u hustle for more cash. with $99 bucks in your pockets, it wouldn't hurt to spoil yourself with a Subway sandwich or sumthin. indulge tah kau nah! as long as u dont pre-splurge on material mediocrity.

all i'm sayin is, as impatient as we get when it comes to things we really want, there's no real need to rush. and in my case, the i-could-get-used-to-this symptom is startin to build up. i feel it in my veins, rushin up my spine and ringin the nerves in my crooked tiger-teeth. is earnin 1+k per enough for me? fuck that shit.

here's a prelude of things to come: i'm workin to better my own situation. when my situation suits me best, i'll be kind enough to help my people out. can't help it, it's in my nature. as it is in everyone's nature, i'm sure. in short, this nation needs revamping, rebranding, redoing. mindsets are gonna be taken over. to those living in the moment, settle all u like in your little artificial post u built for yourself, unless you're already humble enough to realize your status in the social hierarchy aint nothing compared to the statuses of those with nothing to live for in life.

It took a while getting used to my sister’s bump. 9 months it took. I might've been in and out of the country at 4-month intervals like i was part of a flock of immigrating geese. That sure as hell didn’t pace the getting-used-to process.

This is how it worked out...

My memory got wiped out each morning. As usual, a yawn came first. Stepped out the bedroom, caught Ka Er coming out of her's, and then a “Damn! That’s a belly!” came next. This was all in my head of course. (Not once did you hear me say that, did u ka? haha!) And it was like that every morning! I guess for the 19 years you've known your eldest sibling, you just get used to seeing everything but a bulging belly. Apart from those times when we tend to have a little too much to eat, ain't that right sis? Hehe I'm playing! I love you ah?

In fact, it wasn't just a daily occurence. At times it came by the hour. The day would go on. I'd step into the kitchen for breakfast. Sis would be cooking a foot away from the stove, and then "Wait. No! What!? Bulging belly!" again. TV in the common room. Sis would be in an awkward seating position on the sofa, and another "Dude!! Watchu have for lunch??". Coming out of the shower. Sis would come my way dragging her feet, and another "Damn! Someone give me a pin now!". You get the picture.

But after a while it began sinking in. My sister was carrying a child. She was about to enter a wider realm of adulthood, making that crucial transition from 'Loving Wife' to 'Loving Mother'. The old man was gonna be 'The Older Man'. The Older Man & Woman were gonna be 'The Oldest Folks'. The sisters were gonna be aunts, or 'Mamas' as they'd prefer. And me? I was gonna be an uncle.

It was hard to grasp the reality of having a niece. It helped to imagine though. Little Nadya would grow up to yell "UNCLE HAM!" when she'd hear me sneak out the house and in a second would stop me just to give me a hug goodbye. Or to cry "UNCLE HAAAAAM~!" when she needed help getting up after tripping over her own foot and bruising her knee in the backyard. Or to kindly ask "Uncle Haaaam~?" when she wanted some candy I'd always carry around whenever she was being a good girl. Si manja atu hehe! I'd be restocking my candy supply by the minute! I can't wait.

That was then though. It's been 2 and a half months since her birthday. November 23rd, 2005. And you know what? (Oh damn! Get ready for a teary moment!) She's the cutest niece I could ever ask for. I'm gonna toughen up before I get me the sniffles!

Oh, and did you peep those cheeks?? DAMN! Now those are some cheeks! Can't deny that. They're hard to miss, those 2. And I thought Ka Er's belly was huge.

I'm gonna bite em when I get back Ka Er, I swear! Gimme 4 months.

The feeling is rancid. Like a certain refrigerator i know infested with flies. And its second generation. (Look up "Fridge-Pesterminators" in the Yellow Pages, Mo.) Having managed to contradict the mantra this site holds a heavy bearing towards, lately ive sensed the need to inspirit this whole damn thing! (I should probably have renamed it "When All Else Inspires.")

Im aware of the adversity. No news. No updates. No articles. No nothing! Life paused for a long minute there... Those little dudes up there decided my thoughts needed regrouping. A few thrown out. A few kept. A few of those kept ones, cherished. And the rest, forgotten. Either naturally or purposely. Its been 3 long months without word. In heads other than my own, the silence might have meant just that. But the silence was loud as hell in my head, and i feel like that needed to be presupposed by everyone else without my having to put it out there. I needed time to myself coz the millions of priorities that almost weighed me down 6 feet under weren't gonna work themselves out. I need that to be understood.

It was workout time.

But now that ive got moments to use up and a net connection to exploit (broadband - enough said), im gonna give myself the privilege of acquainting myself to previous habits. Coz im gonna be honest - a whole lot's gone on! from newborns to newerborns, 8 to 5s, folio revamping to interviews, independence to a higher form of it. I needed a long breath, and i need one now. More are going unmentioned.

This post officially puts an end to my life's intermission. Its back to the drawing board. For now at least. Now lemme get to it.

this is my first foreign Raya, and its also a first for a lot of things - no family around. no kuih. (come to think of it, there's no food either.) no baju raya. no raya music. no chucul. no decorations. no money (without which makes it impossible to go to open houses around KL). and worst of all, no mood to celebrate.

so to sum it up, this is by far the worst Raya EVER. but im hangin in there. at least ive got Mo and Jo here in the Pent with me. (how was basketball, Mo?) hehe! and 2 weeks isnt so long if u really think about it. i'll be back in Brunei in no time. the 14th to be exact. someone better not give me a reality check within that period...

but in attempting not to ruin it for everyone else, y'all (which excludes those stuck here with work) have all the reason to celebrate and enjoy the Syawal festivities in the presence of your family and friends. and in the spirit of Aidilfitri, i just wanna apologize to anyone for anything ive done to provoke or hurt u. that's never been my intention, and i just hope we can all move on forward and forget past grudges and/or grievances.

im just glad i got to eat and drink the minute i got up this afternoon. what fun hehe!

Announcing it now leaves me better off than delaying it until every ear falls prey to their tune. I was in search of the perfect form of music in hopes of it paralleling with my senses and my character. And even before the recent release of their 4th album (above), Thievery Corporation has had me. Google's done it again! don't ask me how. lemme just get to the point. a new program was launched called Google Earth a few months ago, allowing u to find probably any location on Earth! (i know, i was blown away too.)

check that picture above for instance. that's the old Mayang campus! i got that, along with all this Google Earth info, from the Anti-Limkokwing blog (click on linked Title to enter site). and to my fellow Crimsonites, if u look close enough, u'll probably find... u guessed it! *knock-knock* *knock* *knock-knock-knock* that's Crimson. right at the top-left corner. somewhere there. its a huge map so its tough to pinpoint the place. then again, i might be wrong. it might not even be on that damn map hehe!

and if that's right, i suggest u download the program and find it yourself. or pick some other place. your grandma's crib. (haha! kedapatan mencari rumah sendiri!) the Great Wall of China. the Playboy Mansion. Osama's mountain. discover where the show LOST is being shot and they might have to change the title of show. whatever captures u.

one final note - i wanna wish everyone alive a wonderful fasting month. lets undergo Ramadhan for its sole purpose - feel the pain of those less nourished and give back to their community. coz after all it comes down to, we are one. this is an ode to them.

think this award-baggin is over?? shit, i only just got started. with The Crowbar Awards wrapped up after snaggin 2 bronze certificates for my Blu-Tack Nail and Kayaba Jenga ads as well as a Finalist certificate for my Bed Head Zipper ad, and with what i reckon were biased decisions by the judges that night, its gotten me hungrier than ever!

so allow me to demonstrate my soreness by saying The Crowbar Awards was a minor pinch of my future success. (God, im way over my head here hehe!) there are bigger things to worry about. a LOT bigger! like next month's Young Guns Student Award (click on linked Title to enter site). this is a much coveted awards show based in Australia, giving away Gold, Silver, and Bronze bullets (seen above) as well as a 3-month internship with Leo Burnett Worldwide. an awards show where each entry costs an insane 100 Malaysian bucks! which only means the entries we'll be submitting have gotta be above-par standards.

what's worse is that there aint much time left. the tock is clickin. hehe. check the site out yourself! today it shouts "ENTRY CLOSES 17 DAYS". thats a full half a month to make or break, so may the Lord be with me. especially right through the early days of Ramadhan. creative juice will hopefully compensate for food abstaining, and im gonna need all the energy to jog my mind right up to the early hours of every morning.

and Dad, if you're reading this, thank u for your support, both financially and emotionally. that goes your y'all too, my sisters! and how can i forget my sayang Nesa. i love u all! i appreciate y'all keepin your faith in me. God-willing, i wont disappoint.

its the sweetest irony. and to think it just hit me. its been nearly 2 months since i exhausted my creative juice trying to get a nail-biting, award-clinching piece of work in hopes of seekin triumph at The Crowbar Awards before its deadline last July. 2 bloody months of impatience! (alright, that's pushin it a little. i did have other priorities to think about during that timespan.)

i gotta tell u though, there were an umpteenth number of times where i'd look too far ahead. such artificial prophecies deteriorate your self-esteem once reality hits u, so ive chosen not to mention em. then again, if reality meant goin thru all the things u expected to all those times u were caught driftin off into Cloud Nine during your Wednesday afternoon class, there's all the reason to differ.

like seein yourself walkin across that stage receiving the gorgeous prize money, constantly thinkin about how it'd be like to lose yourself in the dense jungle that is the advertising world. (watch out, MD&E!) and how it would be like to finally step foot onto American soil and (depending on where the internship takes the winner) gettin to eat cheese steaks in Philly, see gay people in SF, lounge in The Viper Room in LA, or ball up at The Rucker in NYC. (hehe! for an anti-Am, im quite the contradiction.)

but enough about hopes. that was months back. the time is now, and there's a fine line between success and failure. fortunately for me, that line's gotten thicker throughout the 2 months i went through raising hell with the assistance of anxiety. on Monday, Kelvin Wee, the Project Manager of this year's Crowbar Awards, sent me a congratulatory e-mail for the works i submitted (Blu-Tack Nail & Bed Head Zipper, as seen above and below). he said i was a FINALIST! would u believe it?? it took a while to let it sink in, but when it did i was ecstatic!

i can officially say that i'm baggin SOMETHING come the 23rd. the placings have yet to be confirmed so there's still a breath of anxiety there. all i know now is that i'll be raising a different kinda hell until the end of the road trip i'll be taking with Ori & Norman (and maybe Rae) to The Lion City.

my love for lounge music has grown. even more so for a group who i believe makes the most sensuous of its kind. enter Belanova. i dont delve much into the background of artists though, apart from the fact that they're Mexicans. im not too sure. but in general, as long as its good, im buyin. these folks have got a mix of ambience and uptempo, with a crisp touch of vocal purity. and that to me just 'cherrys' it all. i cant help it, i love Denisse's voice! hehe. and y'all can argue all u want as to whether this is dance music or electronica, i still reckon its 'loungable'.

i personally love their single Niño though. but y'all might just find the rest of their music just as good! and i mean ALL of em! here's a tip: download all their songs, set on repeat, play, and just kick back. or 'lounge', as i like to call it. trust me. and its a good thing i did my research. click the linked title to check their video out and let those jaws drop. the song's called Me Pregunto. now lounge.

thanx to my dad and ka wana's help, im headed home tomorrow! (home meaning Brunei.) ive got too much planned, and its a vacation of less than 2 weeks. but nonetheless, im sure its bound to be worth while. aint that right sayang?? hehe. i'll be back here in Cyber on the 27th, just in time for registration week in fucked ol' Limkokwing. i still havent gotten my grades yet though. and as much as i'd like to pass the subjects i took last semester, im sure there'll be some disappointments. but either way, i'll finally be in semester 3!

and that aint all. we've got a few new faces in the Pent by next month too. i wont keep my hopes up but in words, a good friend of mine will be movin in with us, aint that right Dul?? hehe! i know it might be a little too soon to predict whether u'll be an official Cyberian by the end of July, but i just gotta say that even though u made a stupid move by enrollin at Limkokwing, i sinfully accept to let u in on life down here. and as i mentioned months before, allow us to face the tough times together brother. but like i ALSO mentioned months before, i dont wanna hear u complainin about how bad it is down here!! i reminded u about the shit that goes on down here a million times over Dul! so no matter how bad your situation becomes, your complaints arent in any way justifiable, u got me??

when i lashed out the way i did 4 days ago concerning the bombings and everything it was tied to, i wasnt at all done. i still had to prove my case was true. and what did i see on the news this morning? Bush. and what did i expect to him to do? to uphold those so-called dogmatic beliefs he has towards fighting terrorism. something which i clearly prophecized 4 days ago!

now im not saying his will to shake off terrorism is a bad thing. why should it be? i'd gladly fight terrorism any day. as i would if the case were fighting against racism or AIDS. but that asshole Bush is really fuckin with the minds of innocents with that political propaganda he's using as his subtle brutality towards mankind! self-contradicting his way into the battle against his very own principles. its a damn shame! i mean how can u possibly constrain the people in favor of u to turn their cheeks in the direction of that used by the very people who are supposedly against u??

and also, u cant rightfully proclaim terrorists cant be appeased!! who made u governor of the world!? he might not believe its possible though. that thought only comes to mind when u realize you've gone too far from its possibility. in that case, he needs to control that rage a little. the more u let out that infinite fury of yours, the more these people wanna fuckin kill u! but come to think of it, thats probably what you're trying to do.

i mean why couldnt the Parisians be blamed for once? after all, it was them who lost a to the Londoners in their bid for 2012. now i might be wrong to go assuming u guys blame the middle-eastern folk for such problems, but based on what ive seen im somewhat forced to lash out the way i often do. my main concern here, as much as i want to find out the reasoning behind the reoccuring tragedies, is that no one is to blame until we've found enough evidence to do so.

i understand the hardships of losing a beloved one, and i realize our sensitivity compels us to put a name under that 'reason' column after putting the name(s) of that person whom u were close to in that 'victim' column. but its just too unjust. empathize for a second or two and u'll realize (unless u lack emotion or u just dont know the definition of the word 'empathize'). priority number one is to cater to those who lost the one(s) they care for. the priority that comes at a close second is to investigate the situation.

what we gotta remember is that these two priorities are not to be mixed up. if they are, we've gone too far. u treat the second priority as if it was obvious who the felons were and only after that u cater to those who are aching inside, uve earned yourself a World War III. we'll all be lookin forward to that in about a decade now wouldnt we? actually, make that half a decade. keep talkin and pointin those fingers and we'll perish soon enough.

Revealed at the Musikmesse show in Frankfurt last month, the DJ Mixer enables DJs to mix two iPods simultaneously, taking “spinning discs” to a whole new level. The unit looks like an oversized, enhanced iPod, with scratch pad, fader and pitch controls and the ability to grab audio for scratching.

I love this movie. Cliche. But i still love it despite it. After all, it's based on a true story. I personally would appreciate meetin up with the REAL Coach Carter if i could. To lead a bunch of stubborn high school street kids in a bad neighborhood to be the best ballers in all of the state? And make em learn the fundamentals of attending class? Boo-yah. Damn right yo. That goes straight into my Book of Good, no doubt. Shaft was craaaazzzyyyy in this MP, not to mention the casting roles of those kids. Phoooh. Gila! They awesome! Timo Cruz, anyone? And to think he started off as "The Rookie" in Disney's MP. Latino's represent. Worm. Kenyan. All those dudes. I love em. And shaft. Mr. Jackson. Big ups to the old man, seriously.
